Re. wrong power steering fluid

He didn't by any chance use synthetic did he?
This is what happened to my wife's cabby and it's the only explanation I have
for it now leaking like a 12 beer drunk.

I'm looking forward to replacing it's steering rack this winter while it's in
storage - woo hoo...

a buddy of mine filled my car w/ the wrong PS fluid.
now there's a big puddle under my car. i believe the
seals are wasted. what can i do to salvage my steering system?
