Both my 79 and 80 had a thin felty grey rug sort of thing on the floor of
the "trunk", and glued down carpet on the top of the hatch cover and side
shelves. GL removing that adhesive if you try to scrape those down BTW.
Klaus has a cardbaord piece with fake leather texture on the side to cover
the windshield washer fliud container, and neither had anything on the
sides or over the taillights. (My 87 has that foamy sort of leather
texture material, not sure if that ever came in the earlier ones) Hard to
say what the 80 should have had on its seat backs since I can't guarantee
the seats are original, but the 79 had the foam displayed for all the
world to see, unlike the MkII which has some hardboard stuff there. I put
some chocolate pleather there since it tidies up the trunk area, the foam
isn't aesthetically pleasing, LOL. Yep, trunk restoration was one of the
spring projects, and thre is lots of choocolaty goodness living in there
now. Yummy.
