Only the A3's with 02A's were cable shift.

All 020's are rod shifted...

It will fit, but you'll need to use your A1 linkage, and a 16V, or A3 2L
clutch disc.

The final gear ratio on the A3 2L is better suited for forced induction.

Yes it will fit... but I think that the mk3's all used cable shift, not
linkage.
