anyone running cis w/o fuel accumulator?
As I understand it the accumulator has two roles - 1) to help maintain
system pressure at rest, and 2) to help smooth out the pulses of the fuel
pump.
I don't know if you would experience any driveability issues from an
absence of #2 - but I'm guessing likely not. Friends had the end
literally blow off the accumulator on their CIS equipped 87 Jetta - they
drove it for a few weeks before asking me what these parts they found in
their drive were (the end cap and the spring.)
Note - the diaphragms in those things are pretty damned tough stuff.
