Although not in a Scirocco (and I am embarrassed to say what car it was) I
had exactly the same symptoms you are describing and it was excessively
fouled spark plugs that was causing the problem (they were completely
covered in oil and oil related grime) . They were getting fouled by
leaking valve stem seals. I had to change my spark plugs every three
months so that it would not buck on the highway....until I put in new valve
seals.
