Even though I will be looked upon as the poor ignorant inbred errr......
umm.....naive wrencher I am for imparting this, I cannot hide my glee!
I can finally start REBUILDING the tranny! (well @ least start work on the
diff!)
I bought real circlip pliers today and went home and w/i 30 sec. had the
last stubborn one off, After that it just seemed to spring
apart (especially the synchro catchs!) until it came to pulling 1st gear.
Then I found I didn't have a gear puller w/ long enough jaws.
Consternation ruled for about 5 min., and then foolhardiness and faith
in the indestructablity of the square knot took over.
The results can be seen at:

The newly improvised tool took 3 revisions until it functioned as
required, but it only had to succeed once.
K....now to wash the shell clean and treat the exterior for oxidation and
then paint it? I'm waffling on this one....
9A deconstructed, now to see if I can put it back together!
