JH Engine oil pressure issues

I believe that the cabby in question is a hydro head version (IIRC, it was in the 87-89 year range). Anyway, I saw similar behavior on my cabby (solid lifter) and when I installed the 2L 16v with the same oil pressure sensing equipment, it ended up operating in the normal range (1.5-3 bar when warm).
 
Now mind you, I would say that pressure you're seeing is fine, but if you're that worried about it, I would install the bigger pump.

Something else you can try. If you feel the oil pressure is too low with
the solid lifter JH oil pump then buy a new oil pump from a hydraulic head
golf. Something like an 85 GTI. It has a puts out a higher volume to begin
with. There ia also another pump, maybe from a 2.0 16V or an ABA that puts
out even more but I don't remember what one it is.
