full thottle switch - how ammeters work



Dan,
Hey, oldguy, I think dwell is the average "on" time of electricity, so it is sensing amperes or volts. (or maybe it's average "off" time....I dunno')

  I'm not a hotshit electrical engineer and don't know anything about ammeters
  and voltmeters, but I do know that you need to measure dwell on your car and
  you need a dwell meter to do it!
  Get a dwell meter. Something that has a scale on it that says "dwell"!
  Then we can quibble about what the setting should be and how much it doesn't
  effect the power your engine makes!
