You should be able to make it work as long as the system hasn't deteriorated
too much (usually once the internals of an A/C system are vented to the
atmosphere the contents turn to a type of acid and it starts eating the
system from the inside out). The Mk2 or A2 A/C systems did the same things
in the front and interior. What I mean is that the Mk1 cars have the same
things inside the car as the A2 and Mk2. They aren't missing anything on
the interior side of the A/C. That sure would be nice to have an Mk1 with
A/C!!
