What size is the damn tool? was Re: cv joints



John is right on this one.
There are only 4 triple square sizes; 6, 8, 10, 12.
6 is damn small and fits the bolts on the bearing retainer plate in the 020
tranny,
8 fits the inner CV bolts.
10 fits the starter bolts
12 fits the cylinder head bolts and the big-assed bolt on the end of fifth
gear.
I'm sure they all have other uses, but that at least is an example of where
they're used.
I don't have a clue what dimension of an 8mm triple square is 8mm (probably
the peak to peak) , but the fact a 6mm hex fits (not tightly enough) in it's
hole is not an indication of the triple square size.
