Phaeton Conversions
I don't know all that much other then the phaeton comes with the W8 and
the W12 engine and I think that 4 motion is avail on one of not both
version of the car. However, not having actually seen the engines in
person, I'd still have to say that they prollie wouldn't just drop in.
I have no idea about weather they are side saddle (FWD style) or
logitudinal (RWD style) but I'd guess that the mounts are prollie very
different from the norm of VW (could be way off there, just a guess).
Though to make matters worse, us A1 folk would definitly have to come up
with a hell of a front crossmember reinforcement brace to handle the
power those engines dish out. Supposedly, the W12 that gets put in the
car has roughly 400hp avilable, but it's been choked down from a
potential 600hp. I saw those figures back in 2001 in a Euro car rag
that was doing a story on the W12 concept cars that VW built.
I'm sure someone on the list has gotten a good peak at one of these
however and they will prollie speak up and make everything I just said
turn to sand. But I'm just going off what I've read/heard so I don't
even put any stock in it just yet till I see true specs.
