Subject: questions on ebay items
Looking at a few ebay items and I have some questions. First up is a
Peloquin diff kit. When done, my car is going to have oodles of hp and
I'd like to get it to the ground sufficiently, but I'm not going to
auto-x this car and other track time is not in the near future. Is it
worth it for me to get this? Will I even notice a difference? Is this
the same kit that Peter (the Scirocco) sells on his site for like $80 or
$90?

Next is 16v Prothane motor mounts. They're made of urethane. Good bad or
otherwise? Is it worth what they're asking, considering the price will
go up as there's 3 1/2 days left? Would a set of TT motor mounts be
better for me? Oh yeah, will 16v mounts work on an 8v? I suppose that's
the msot important question....
TIA,
Dan
Yes, and it looks complete...
For the money, it's a great kit!
The shims will wear out, but they are replaceable, and you can use this
shim kit with the new Peloquin differential. If you need more traction,
or 2WD, you can always upgrade later.
It can easily be installed on the car, I have the instructions on my
site, and you read that first, to see if you want to install it.
Like Mark said, it's no diff., but IMO it's the most bang for the buck
mod you can do, to a stock '84 and up 020.
When I first got my '79 done, I warmed it up, and then revved it up to
~4000 RPM and popped the clutch out. It left 2 equal length tire marks
in my garage. :)

As you can see the SP8000's didn't leave any rubber, instead the
scrubbed the floor clean, probably from the dust/dirt on the floor. Then
again, when I verified that I had a Quaife in the Wagen, it left 2 scrub
marks in front of the garage, maybe it's the concrete...
