Is the distributor spinning during cranking?
Sounds like a snapped timing belt to me....but it could be electrical as well...lemme know what you find on the distro.

One more note, the car doesn't even stumble when cranking.

I took a turn then started accelerating in the cabby. The tach then
read zero and I believe the various warning lights came on as if you had
just put the ignition on. Car cranks fine but doesn't refire.
I did find that the ground strap that goes to the coil bracket was
disconnected. What is it supposed to connect to? More detail the
better.
Would this cause the car to die like this and not refire?
I checked for spark from the coil wire and there is NO spark. Could
this be due to the ground strap mentioned above being disconnected? Or
is it more likely that I just need to throw another coil on.
Thanks! I really don't want to have to get a tow truck.
