phantom grip diffs
I had an OPM. Pretty much junk in my opinion. I wore 0.060 of each clutch
face/spring block by running 6 auto-x's and about 400 miles street use.
Save your money and buy the quaife or peliquin. In fact the 80% shim kit
worked better in my car than the OPM piece. If you have to buy the phantom
grip or the OPM then at least get the OPM. They add an extra brass wear
piece between the spider gear and the cast pumpkin where phantom grip
supposedly doesn't.
I had my blocks remade from A2 tool steel instead of the (looked like) 1018
steel that came from OPM. I did not harden them. I did have another set
made and hardened previously (Rockwell 38-40) but they shattered when I
tried to install them. I'm sure the A2 blocks were the answer and it cured
the wear problem I had with their material, but I never got around to
installing it back in my car.
