OT: How can I run a server on my own computer

Tahnks everyone for your help
The reason I wanted to run a server on my pc was just

which doesn't havea continuous connection. It uses
something like a PPPOE which I have to long onto AOL
to go online. I also realized that I would get a lot
of heat from my parents from leaving the computer on
all night which makes the elecrcity bill expensive.
Also my computer is in my room and it gives a off a
lot of heat. More like every room in the house is at
around 80 dgrees and mine is at 90. Since my computer
is on most of the day during weekeneds and evenings I
might just try it out. For something like back
