Rocco identity swapping?

Melissa has been cleaning the engine bay of her shell in prep for a
paintjob, and I was wondering, after the swap is done, could I use the VIN
from the donor car? The only thing really staying from the shell is the
unibody, suspension, steering and maybe the brakes. EVERYTHING else will
come from her donor car. It would be way easier to use the old VIN; no
paperwork changes (read: $$ to DOT), no insurance changes, etc. Somebody
has to have come across this at one time or another. Where are all the
occurrences of the VIN on a Rocc? I can think of three, dash, under hood
and driver's doorjam.
The donor is an 87 8v, and the shell is an 86 8v, so there really wouldn't
be any difference, I guess.
Thoughts?
