Yep, getting new Hot 12v to Starter and 12v Ground to body (chassis)/
Transaxle case/ Block is one of the best starter, battery charger,
bright headlights, non dipping radio thing the older VW owner can do.
Cheap sources, besides FLAPS is welding shops, and/or surplus shops
who sell grounding/welding cable by the pound or foot.
At the very least get some new units and clean the contacts to the
metal on metal places and coat wit a light skim of dielectric grease
or petroleum jelly or something.
Oxygen is good in the combustion process but bad in the electron flow
arena.
