Turns signals that don't blink / smoking wires

I think you need a new flasher unit

The brake light switch is live all the time

Wiggle the wires and see if you get any sparks/smoke (or you could
disconnect the battery and do a continuity test of the circuit to
ground, which is much less likely to set you car on fire). I would
probably get a new switch while you are buying the flasher unit.
