So tell us Larry, exactly why do companies like Moroso, Meizere and
Weiand (sp) waste the time and $$ to produce electric water pumps, and
then go to the trouble of dyno testing cars both with and without those
pumps, in order to advertise that 10+hp is freed up on an chevy motor
due to the reduced drag on the pulley system?

You will not gain hp. It still takes x amount of hp to drive a pump,
whether it comes from the engine directly (via a belt) or indirectly via
the alternator. An electric pump will just take more hp to drive the
alternator.
No such thing as free lunch.

Working on my 2L project and thinking...could it be possible to not
install
the pulley driven Water pump and install a type of electrical water pump
instead and gain some HP?
I have been obviously reading too many racing catalogues, I am getting
ideas, but no real clue what type would electrical driven (yeah I can
hear
the gremlins already getting ready to attack this thing) water pump ?
any one have any ideas on this?
