Hacking the springs
ok about the springs, i just did this to my red 16v 2 days ago, as well as my black 16v about 3 months ago. I took out 1/2 a coil on my h&r sport springs in the front. it evened it out pretty well, (oh, btw im running boge turbo gas at all 4 corners). on my red rocco i took off 75% of a coil, sat a little little lower than 50, i think it was the best over the 50 percent. but it all depends, if i were you i would go in 25% increments until you find the look you want, yeah it will be a pain in the ass going back and forth with the suspension but in the end youll get what you want.

The only limit to this is you probably shouldn't cut off so much that the
spring can move in the seat with the strut fully extended.
Obviously, cutting off one whole coil will lower the car approximately the
diameter of the spring wire. (~10mm judging from a quick look at the H & R's
sitting in a box in the trunk of my 16V) Cutting off half a coil should get
you half that much.
One note of caution; take it a little at a time cause it's hard to put some
of the spring back on ;^)

why I shouldn't do this? Will it make much of a difference in terms of ride
quality or the stance of the car? Im not talking about cutting the springs
themselves just the bottom dead coils.
