Rocco roof racks?

I've long wanted a roof rack for my scirocco, and I've decided to start saving for one. While I'm saving, I want to research what system is best for our cars. I know of only two companies, Thule and Yakima. Both seem nice, and are rather equally expensive. I'll mainly be using it for bikes, but may spring for a cargo box and other acc. later (snow/surf).

Of course, strength and integrity are key, but so is the racks ability to NOT jack my car's roof. It will probably stay on the car most of the time.

Also, if anyone knows of a good place (i.e. cheap) to get a rack system, please let me know.
