adjusting Ignition timing
For directions on setting timing, follow the Bentley. It isn't hard, but
it's kinda hard to describe.
But some advice for buying a light: Make sure you get an "advance"
timing light with an adjustment knob. Our flywheels usually only have a
single tick mark (or one at TDC, and another at 6 BTDC), instead of a
range of degree markers. So you can't tell how far you are from TDC by
looking at the flywheel. You need to use the knob on the advance timing
light to off-set the light pulse. So, for example, if you want 6 BTDC,
set the knob to 6 and you should see the TDC mark in the light when the
distributor is set properly...
