I removed some parts. Did I screwup?

I recently did this on two different cars. They were Rabbits but still. I
got rid of the vacuum distributor (the thing that mounts to the driver's
side strut tower), got rid of the EGR valve (in one case, all together since
I swapped on a non-EGR valve intake and ported for the larger TB, the other
I just capped off the exhaust port to the EGR and whatever else there was to
cap off). Other than those two things, I got rid of all vacuum lines except
for the vacuum advance (both cars have been upgraded to electronic ignition
so no retard), the large tube for the idle stabilizer and the brake booster
tube; got rid of all five of the canisters (one on the hood, one under the
car in front of the trans, two in the drivers fender well, and one in the
passenger side fender well) and anything else that even remotely looked like
it was related to the emissions. So, basically, when it came down to the
F.I. system, all there was left was the cold start system which includes the
cold start injector and the thermo time switch, the idle system, and the
injectors and warm-up regulator. It basically helps alot when diagnosing!
There is only so much that can be wrong!

Anyway, once I was done, there was a huge pile of unnecessary parts. Kinda
nice to have all the extra room too!

As far as venting fumes to the atmosphere, I figured that they would get
there eventually when they are vented to a cannister. What do they expect
to happen? Are we supposed to take these things in and have them vented in
some controlled environment?? What happens to these things when you get
rid of your car like take it to a wrecking yard, do they dispose of them
correctly?? I think it's just one more way for the government to hike up
the cost of vehicles by requiring these meaningless contraptions to be
installed on cars when there is no way to dispose of the contents. Yet
another environmental catch 22!

Just my opinion!
