Which 85-87 trannies need the extra .5L of fluid?

All my Bentleys stop at 84, and the Haynes manual says that "some 85 and later" trannies
need an extra .5L of fuid after filling to the overflowing point of the side "plug"... 
After 87 or so they placed the plug height higher so you fill to the hole level as
before...

Anyone clear up the very vague Haynes description on which trannies need the extra fluid
between 85 and 87?  Specifically, does it affect 9A or AUG trannies?
