Bad transfer pump symptoms?

Sorry if I sounded ignorant, didn't mean it - I appreciate all the replies I got...
Anyway, the problem is that my car occasionally loses its power and won't rev past 4k. A few times, it shut off altogether. I figured it was the main fuel pump not flowing right or dying, replaced it, and it did nothing but burn a hole in my wallet.
So now I'm at the transfer pump. Next up is the fuel pump relay. (backwards order, I know) Fuel filter is new (although generic), and ALL ignition components except the coil are new (or swapped with working used units).
