I plan on doing as much prep as I can on my MK1 which is already stripped to
the metal. It has been for several months time and there is still no
evidence of any rust/tarnish as I live in a quite dry area I plan on going
as far as primering it myself. Small sub projects will include
removing/shaving the rear side markers and filling the fender antenna hole.
Then will find a decent shop that is willing to paint over my own prep. (I
understand some picky places don't want to stake there rep on unknown
previous work) My expectations are adjusted accordingly, however and I just
want take my time and learn while being carefull. In the end saving myself
a couple thousand dollars vs. a major complete job at one of the more
reputable places in town. I have some B&N gift cards burning a hole in my
pocket. Anyone have any rec's for a good refference for DIY stuff like this?
Or even a little encourgement..... I would classify my self as a carefull
patient, novice, if that helps
Thanks
Ken
