Check battery and cables, both hot and ground... Run an auxillery ground
from the battery's neg terminal to the alternator body, does not need to be
very heavy gauge... 10 will do.
Check that the bolts on the starter are tight.
A good test is to measure the voltage at the alternator terminal and at the
battery when the car is running... if there is a big difference, i.e. 14 V
at the alternator and 12.5 at the battery then you have a cable problem. If
both are low you may have a regulator or alternator problem.
