Aluminum does have a coefficient of expansion greater than the ferrous =
alloys and cast iron.  That characteristic is accounted for when they =
design for aluminum. Aluminum blocks are becoming more popular for one =
reason; weight.
(And vehicle weight is the major player in the quest for greater =
mileage)
