All Roccs were made in Germany, right ???

SO is it safe to say that the quality of the US built rabbits are not up to par with the Germany made Roccos. I know my Scirocco still feels very solid and it has almost 150k miles on it. The Rabbit Gtis I have been in never feel as tight to me, but maybe I am nuts.
I am not bashing US quality control either, just stating my impressions. The mid 80s were not a high point for quality cars in the US though.
