battery relocation question

I didn't go that route for the race car because
they're HEAVY!! I went with an (ACK!) Honda CRX
battery. I don't have to worry about starting in the
cold or anything, so a slight loss of CCA's is OK with
me. The CRX battery also fit better in the marine box
I had.
For big events, I might even get a lawn tractor
battery and shave more weight.

Yup. My battery is in the spare tire well...right in
the middle! I'm not worried about trunk space. With
the optima, you also don't necessarily HAVE to have a
box. They won't leak or vent fumes, so you could just
strap it down without a box at all.

I don't know anything about TDs. Do they really need
that much power? For some (completely uneducated)
reason I always assumed diesels would be
low-compression engines...shows what I know!
