16v swap to early Scirocco

'81 Scirocco.  Planning a 2.0l 16v swap with a 9A from a Passat.
Is there a good writeup or web page on what I'll need?
I've got:
9A long block needing rebuild
I don't have:
distributor
valve cover
intake manifold
engine management system.

I've heard that most any Digifant system can work with this; I'd need to add a fuel rail, injectors, etc.
I have a knock box from an '87 GLI, and matching throttle body.
Is there an issue with the exhaust manifold/downpipe?

Any thoughts appreciated... what's the best way to search the list archives?
