Don't know if those handles will fit the MK1 cars, but they will fit
rabbits and sciroccos MK2, so if the stock handles are compatibles , the
new ones should fit  too

I don't think it will work on a Mk.1, since the open mechanism is pushed
in, and not down like on a Mk.2.
