Getting the Tranny back in the car...

If it goes in the first time, the bench press method is the fastest.  When I did one last month, I used part of the method some of the list members used to put a engine in from the bottom.

Hood up
2x4's in the channels of the hood/fender junction
2x4 going left to right resting on the 2x4's in the channels
1 tie down strap with a ratchet to take up slack (looks like a mini come-a-long)
I put the strap around the tranny and the single 2x4 and used the ratcheting part to lift it into place.  It's easy to line every thing up when you get it in place.
I think that two straps may be more stable, but one worked for me.
