Dynomax muffler choices
It looks like the short list is out (and it's pretty short)
I'm looking at one of two dynomax mufflers:
1) the ultraflow welded/race model 17230, which is a 6" round unit with
2.5 in/out, and a 21" overall length, which makes it a pretty good fit
behind the TT centre pipe, with only a top or turndown required.
2) the dynomax race bullet, which is a "racing only" muffler (hey, I race
my Scirocco in the laneway everynight!) The 24215 is a 4" round bullet
with 2.5 in/out and a 16.5" overall length, meaning it'll need a longer
turndown to get the exhaust past the rear valence.
Although the price of the bullet is much more attractive (still waiting
for final quotes from local supplier) it looks like it probably will not
do too much in the way of quieting, compared to the 6" round unit. Does
anyone have experience with either of these models? The straight-through
design is attractive, and I'm pretty confident that the 6" unit would give
me the level of quieting that I desire (ok, it's a daily driver and I'm
getting too old) At the same time, I'm not sure how much good the race
bullet will be - I don't need a lot of quieting, just enough to take that
really rough edge off.
Any personal opionion concerning the overall quality (or lack therof) of
dynomax products would also be appreciated.
