rear muffler dimensions anyone?

OK, I'm getting down to the last few steps on the exhaust installation.  
It looks like I will either go with a) no muffler, or b) a 2.5" cherry 
bomb

Does anyone happen to know what dimensions the rear muffler is on an 84.5> 
Mk2?  Has anyone fit a 2.5" cherry bomb on their car?
