cracked windsheild removal - my real reply

Drape an old sheet across the dash, over another two, one to each
seat.  You'll get _some_ but not too much.  
Allot depends on whether you intend to save the gasket or not- unless
it's rotted you might as well, seeing as how the glass is done anyway.

This also is a good idea, tuck your pants legs into your socks, might
even want to tape em. 

It'll crack some and there will be some fine glass dust (another thing
to plan for), but the whole thing will come out with a helper on the
outside.
