That noise could definitely be detonation.

Qustions:
What FPR/injectors are you running?
What chip are you running?

The stock Digi-I chip probably isn't very well tuned for the high-rpm
breathing of a 16v. You also need to make sure you're flowing enough
fuel.

Just for my own curiosity, where did you get a 16v fuel rail?

Hahaha!! I was just starting to remember what it is like to have free
time...and then my 16v broke down and the G60 started running like s**t
for some reason. :(
