XP Firewall wuz mess serv.



Uh, Julie - hardware firewalls run software too... :)

When you're talking firewalls, well, there's PIX.  There's Checkpoint.  
What, can't afford the licensing?  Well then...

For the serious home user, you got your OpenBSD - free, functional, and 
secure.

For the serious home user that spends too much time working on cars to 
maintain an OpenBSD installation, you got your favourite Linux distro with 
IPTables (although arguably we spend more time keeping our Linux installs 
secure than we would maintaining an OpenBSD install... :) )

Then you have your Cheerios box firewalls (Linksys, netgear, Belden etc.)

Last but not least you have your MS resident firewalls, PFW, Black Ice 
etc.
