If you have a paint supply shop nearby I know Sherwin Williams automotive
stocks a phosphoric acid metal etch (blue clear liquid) which works almost
identical to the metal ready.
Just a tip, forgot where I heard it, if yer cleaning off seriously rusty
stuff (A arms, suspension beams, floors) use oven cleaner...it helps strip
the rust and paint and cleans well too...just use outside!
