If this is true (and I'm half way there now) you can just drop the oil
into a clean container, get a 5 qt jug of some Walmart brand oil (it
won't matter, you are using it to flush the motor) and then change
back after a little while to the good stuff.

I took the head loose the other day thinking the oil would ride low
after sitting so low but in my haste I forgot about coolant. Even
though I had loosened the coolant hose I still spilled coolant from
the head's passages.
