Synthetic Oil
I religiously use 15-50 in all of my engines, as vw engines (especially
16v's) don't seem to last very long on light oil. the synthetic 50-wt has the
advantage of 15w (vs. 20w normally associated with 50 weight). this in itself
should make it 'close enough' to the 40 weight oil to prevent the need for
mixing oils to get your own viscosity. the only difference you will have is the
high temperature equivalent of 50 wt instead of 40 wt.
why do you need the lighter weight so badly?
