Charging Gremlins
Here is the skinny, the 92 cabriolet (automatic) I picked up, is giving me
hell. It was having problems running down the battery, so put a new battery
in it, then the alt died, replaced it with a refurburished one. Still the
car bearly runs at 12volts and if you do anything (i.e. lights, turn
signales, a/c, or power windows, the the voltage drops to like 10 volts and
stays there for a long time. I replaced the wires from the battery to the
alt and starter with new wires and added a new ground to the block/tranny
housing area. And still it likes to drain the battery over a 2 day period .
I can't find any abnormal drain on the system while the car is off (i.e.
fan, stereo, whatnot). I have discovered a portion of a prior alam system
under the dash, which I am going to remove tomorrow (spliced into the
ignition, consists of a valet switch and control box). Can any one off any
advice as to where my gremlin might be? TIA
(how come every car i buy needs new friggin altenators, lol, I should buyu
stock in Bosch)
Eli
