We defiantly need clarification on what was bent. If it was in the area
of the bumper supports it could be the accordion braces known as the
'crumple zone'. These are the two snorkel things that go from the strut
tower area to the bumpers, parallel with the sides of the car. The battery
sits on one and the washer bottle is near the other.
I had these straightened on my Jetta at a local body shop that had a
'frame machine'. The zone was moved about 3" due to the accident. It cost
about $350 to get everything in specs.
I suppose the term "frame rail" is inappropriate. Looking at a photo of
the car, I think I'm talking about the accordion braces. My car t-boned
a car that was in motion right to left, so everything got shoved back
and toward the driver's side. The washer bottle side is bent away front
the engine from the strut tower to the water bottle, then goes about 40
deg. toward the engine under the alternator. The battery side is
similar, not as bad. Everything got shoved back and down pretty good.
The driver's side door doesn't open, passenger side with difficulty.
Amazingly enough, no broken glass, all headlights intact.
