Cory:

You need a large bench vise (solidly attached to a sturdy bench), a
pipe wrench, and a 4' pipe to slip over the end of the wrench.

That should pretty much tell you how to do it.  Mount the strut
horizontally, use the flange to stop it from rotating.  You can
substiture LARGE channellocks for the pipe wrench (slip pipe over
longer handle).  Add heat if it's stubborn - don't play with it, use
MAPP gas at the least.  Careful for hot oil.

I have not had this method fail yet!
