On Topic: 
I understand the rear end or AWD VW/Audi (sometimes?) comes as a
replacement set; I was at a ND show were this guy was selling what
looked like a section of sheet metal, as yet unused with the linkage,
suspension components installed. 


Cut your undercarriage out, enlarge the center tunnel, slap in a new
transaxle and the rear piece and tada!  AWD Scirocco.

Which donor would seem to be a better choice?

Obviously the exercise is one in folly but so what. Some guy stretched a
Rabbit body onto a 928 chassis.
