MI1 speedo jitters..

Cory,
I had a similar problem with my '81, the speedo would bounce 5-10 mph 
+/- my actual speed (which was also off, it read 10 mph fast).  A couple 
weeks ago it started clicking and the needle started doing a 360, 
bouncing off the pin.  Pretty soon it hit the pin hard enough that it 
busted my needle off, and it started whining like a banshee.  Turns out 
the magnet that controls the needle was wearing out and dragging, and 
the return spring was returning it, so it swayed.  It just got so bad it 
blew up on me.  My advice is to get a new one before it dies, as it 
makes a HORRIBLE noise.  I was on the interstate and had to take a back 
road home it was so loud.
