Hmmmm.
 Josh, I hear you saying something like this: the more money you throw at
the car, the more points it should get.
Coil-overs (that I paid someone to install and never got my hands greasy)
should score higher than your car where you pulled the struts, cut the
spring pad welds, moved it down,  re-welded it, and re-assembled yourself?
As a 'do-it-yourself-er', I have to question it. That said, you are correct
in that this IS the way most judging will go. (whether I like it or not....)
I'd rather see the guide say "Modified suspension = 10 points".  Period.
Scoring a 'butt-ugly' body kit highly because it is rare?   First and
foremost, the car has to look good, right?  Otherwise, one gets deep into
ricer-land.....  (perhaps a catagory for "Taste"?)

I agree with you 101% on the paint issue. Maybe 102%......
