shearing bolts and shafts

When you install them do you torque them to spec? If not, one of two things
can happen. One, over-torqueing can cause the bolts to stretch and weaken,
Second, under torqueing or uneven torqueing would cause uneven stress which
puts more stress on some and not enough on others (no spreading the torque
from the motor evenly to all the bolts) causes one to break, then another,
then a couple more, etc. I know it is kind of a pain to torque them but
worth it since it is rotating mass. Similar to the importance of torqueing
the flywheel and pressure plates properly. HTH!
