1.8T swap: was: Engines- Vroom vroom

I agree with brian,

The 1.8t's are nice, but not the final word in
performance. The are expensive to buy & expensive to
maintain. They are robust, but not any more so that a
factory 16v. I've had a 16v turbo(1.8L) running for a
little over a month now. It cost me around $3K to put
toghether. I dyno'd at 171 to the road at 5 PSI (my
home made boost controller broke & thats all I could
run) I am running 8 psi now & should be over 200 whp.
In driving the car there is no comparison to a
natrually aspirated car... I've ridden in various 2
liter setups and the turbo wins hands down. You don't
know till you roll on the throttle in second and it
just rips up the tires. (falken azenis too). Its
probably not the best auto-x set up as the power comes
on in a surge, but boy is it fun to drive. I'll have
pics as soon as I can find the time to develop them.

below is a list of things in the set up:
sds stand alone management.
t3t4 turbo
homemade turbo manifold
custom saab single pass i/c
3" from the turbo back (also home made sounds mean)
ross machine fuel rail

I am happy with the set up & will be increasing the
boost as soon as I can get my hands on a wideband o2
sensor from a 92-95 civic vx (anyone know someone that
did a motor swap & has a spare?) Anyoe else on the
list have SDS on a turbo set up? Wondering what you
gas mileage is like. Mine sucks, but its probably
because I am always in boost.
