humm well its an 86 8v, I would assume (and I like to 
assume) that the engine you have is of the same mold the 
85 was made out of (JH 1.8v 8v solid lifter) BUT, I also 
recall that in 86 there was some (I could be wrong) 
engines that had hydraulic lifters, so to answer your 
question if yoou have solid lifters you have the large 
ones, if you have the hydraulic one you have the small
ones..
